Rossmoor’s School Site Council

Let Mrs. Coltey know if interested by Wednesday, September 21st

I am searching for a few parents that are looking for an opportunity to get involved at Rossmoor Elementary.  The School Site Council is an excellent option!

The Rossmoor Elementary School Site Council (SSC) collaborates to develop and implement Rossmoor’s Academic Plan. This plan highlights the specific goals and objectives in the following areas: school safety, parent involvement, instructional practice, student equity, and academic achievement.

The SSC consists of five parent members and school staff members. This year there are two parent vacancies that need to be filled.  In general, three to four meetings are held during the school year right after school.  Our first meeting will be held on Thursday, September 29th at 2:30pm at Rossmoor Elementary.  Please make sure you are available to meet that date if you send interest.

If you are a Rossmoor Elementary parent and are interested in having an active voice in the planning of school goals and objectives, please email Mrs. Coltey by Wednesday, September 21st at 4:00pm.
Please email the following to
acoltey@losal.org :

  • Your Name
  • Grade(s) your children are in
  • Short statement of why you are interested in serving on the SSC (No more than 4 sentences)

Parents who are elected to the council serve a two-year term. This year's incoming representatives will serve on the SSC for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years.  If we have multiple people interested in serving, an electronic ballot will be sent out to all Rossmoor families the following week.

  • Fall Picture Day is Tuesday, September 13th

Order form went home last week. Remember to have your Knights come to school on next Tuesday dressed to impress!

  • 4th Grade Sacramento Excursion Parent Meeting:

I would like to invite you to our Sacramento Excursion Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, September 20th at 5:30pm in the Rossmoor Media Center.  If your child is interested in attending the 4th Grade Sacramento Trip please join us at 5:30pm in the school Media Center.  Please remember children are not able to participate in this meeting.   This meeting is for parents only and is not intended for student travelers to attend.   The purpose of this meeting will be to educate parents about the trip and complete the intent to participate form for all students. We are very excited to provide this memorable trip for our Knights!

In STEM last week:

Ready, Set, Build!  Our Knights put their engineering skills to the test to design and build a "flying machine" with their partner.  Students were challenged to design and build a flying machine that had 2 wings, could go down a zipline, and carry 10 marbles.  Our Knights came up with some incredible projects!

This week’s PTA/FOR (Friends of Rossmoor) Volunteer of the Week is Elizabeth Whitt Heuclin!

Elizabeth is mom to 5th grade Knight Anne-Claire Heuclin.

Elizabeth helps in so many ways around campus. She is an outstanding volunteer for our Rossmoor PTA, as well as Friends of Rossmoor (FOR). Elizabeth serves on our PTA Executive Board as Financial Secretary. Her role includes working in tandem with the PTA Treasurer to handle PTA funds; keeps record of all funds collected, deposited, and disbursed; and prepares monthly and annual financial reports. Elizabeth also serves as Treasurer for Friends of Rossmoor (FOR). In addition to fulfilling these two huge roles Elizabeth is Co-room parent and choir volunteer.

Elizabeth is a chef and sommelier and when she is not busy on campus you may be able to find her teaching Cooking classes at PREP in Rossmoor.

Elizabeth, we are so grateful to have you and your family as part of the Rossmoor community! We appreciate all that you do for our Knights, Rossmoor PTA, and Friends of Rossmoor (FOR). Thank you for all that you do!
