I am so excited to share that Rossmoor Elementary is celebrating International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 19th! Staff members, teachers, parents, students and community members are meeting at Rossmoor Park at 7:15am and we will walk as a group leaving to head to school at 7:30am. We have law enforcement joining us as well! Parents we would love for you to join us if you can, however, you may also drop your students off with us at the park as we will all be together.

I am sure many of you remember how great this was in years past!  You won’t want to miss it!  Looking forward to seeing everyone at the event… GO KNIGHTS!

If your family or student plans on attending please let me know by emailing me at acoltey@losal.org. This is such a fun event and I am so excited to see everyone there!

Mrs. Coltey

Garden Help: Our students will soon be planting and growing various plants in our school garden. To get the garden beds ready, we are asking for volunteers to meet up at the garden after school at 2:15 on Friday Oct. 7th and Oct. 14th to get the garden beds and surrounding areas cleaned out and prepped. We could use any volunteers including parents, kids and staff that want to help out. If volunteers could bring any garden tools they have, that would be greatly appreciated!

Last week in STEM Lab:

Collaboration, Cooperation, Teamwork.  STEM Lab is an opportunity for our Knight's to learn the value of working with others, while encouraging one another to show their Knight Pride.  Whether our Knights are learning about animal traits or preparing a presentation about how STEM applies to our everyday lives, our Knights are having fun while learning together!

This week’s PTA/FOR (Friends of Rossmoor) Volunteer of the Week is Andrea Zarember!

Andrea is mom to 4th grade Knight, Jaxon.

Andrea serves as an essential member of the Rossmoor PTA. She serves as Auditor on the PTA Executive Board, as well as for the school. She double and triple checks all of the PTA’s books and financial records, presents written reports of her findings to the association, and corresponds with the Los Alamitos Council PTA as needed.

When Andrea is not at Rossmoor Elementary she is very, very busy being a Chemistry Professor at Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cerritos College and LBCC! Andrea loves watching her son play baseball and Taekwondo and spending quality time with friends and family.

Andrea, we are so grateful to have you and your family as part of the Rossmoor community! We appreciate all that you do for our Knights and Rossmoor PTA. Thank you for all that you do!
