Good Morning Rossmoor Families,

Fall Parent Teacher Conferences

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences start this week!

We have scheduled 5 minimum days (October 17, 18, 20, 21 and 24) to allow us the time to meet with you.  Minimum days are 7:50 am to 12:20 pm, for all students TK-5th Grade.  Wednesday is a regular day with 1:05PM dismissal. We believe communication between home and school is a critical component in an effective partnership and serves as the basis for collaboration between parents and teachers.  The conference serves as a platform to discuss your student’s academic growth, work habits and peer relationships. Rossmoor will be facilitating in-person conferences that will occur inside your child’s classroom; however, we will also offer a conference via Zoom or telephone if that conference method best meets your family’s needs.  Please check into the office before going to your conference and bring your ID.

We have law enforcement joining us as well! Parents we would love for you to join us if you can, however, you may also drop your students off with us at the park as we will all be together.

I am sure many of you remember how great this was in years past!  You won’t want to miss it!  Looking forward to seeing everyone at the event… GO KNIGHTS!

If your family or student plans on attending please let me know by emailing me at acoltey@losal.org. This is such a fun event and I am so excited to see everyone there!

The Great Shake Out~

Thursday, October 20th

Each year we participate in the Great California ShakeOut.  This Thursday, October 20th, our school will participate at 10:20am.  This is a state-wide drill which allows our staff and students to practice how we will respond if an earthquake were to happen at school.  Each classroom will hold a discussion and answer questions prior to the practice drill.  During the exercise, students will DROP, COVER, and HOLD-ON and then go through the practice of evacuating classrooms.

This week’s PTA/FOR Volunteer of the Week is Nikki Walsh!

Nikki is mom to Rossmoor Knights Leah (4th grade) and Brandon (2nd grade).

Nikki has been an awesome and valuable volunteer at Rossmoor Elementary for many years. This year Nikki serves on our PTA Executive Board as Historian. The Historian is responsible for capturing, assembling, and preserving records of all activities and achievements of PTA; collecting volunteer hours at PTA meetings and events; and completing and submitting the PTA Unit-annual Historian report to the council/district PTA. Nikki has always been very generous with her time and has jumped in where ever needed. In past years Nikki has been in charge of putting together the morning message, has been Reflections chair, Movie night chair, Ice Cream Social Chair, and helped with Carnival! There is nothing she can’t do.

When Nikki is not at Rossmoor Elementary she holds 3 jobs and is in her last semester of college. Nikki also very much enjoys her time with family and watching her active kids do Hapkido.

Nikki, we are thankful for all you do for our Knights and Rossmoor Community!  Rossmoor would not be the same without you. You are a valuable member of our team and we appreciate you!

*Correction from last week's Volunteer of the Week: Andrea Zarember's son's name is Jaxson (not Jaxon).
