Good Morning Rossmoor Families,

Rossmoor Celebrates!

Last week was busy to say the least.  We had so much going on but it was a great week. We wrapped up Red Ribbon Week as students learned about healthy habits and saying no to drugs and our School Board Presentation was fantastic on Tuesday evening.   We ended our week with our 2nd House Meeting and parents you should have received an email about our House Project which each class will be supporting a child from Casa Youth Shelter.   And last but not least, we ended our Friday evening with our incredible Carnival that our Rossmoor PTA put on!   How exciting!

Rossmoor Elementary School Board Presentation Go Knights!!!

Click Here and See below if you want to view Rossmoor’s Board Presentation from last week.

On Tuesday, October 25th, I presented about our school, alongside two of our 5th Grade Knights:   Kai and Violet Lorber, at the Board of Education Meeting at the District Office.

Our Knight Royal Choir performed, You’re a Grand old Flag!  They did incredible!!!  I could not be more proud of our amazing school, our dedicated staff, and our supportive parents. Rossmoor Elementary is such a great place for our Knights to learn, grow, and make lifelong memories!

In addition, it was a joy and honor to present Mr. Tom Germscheid as Rossmoor’s 2022-23 Hero of the Heart. For the past 8 years Tom has served as Rossmoor Elementary’s crossing guard at the intersection of Montecito and Shakespeare.  He is the familiar face that greets students as they walk to school in the morning and waves at all our families as they cross over his intersection on the way to drop their Knights off at school.

Tom’s presence is a positive staple in our community.  Everyone looks forward to seeing him in the morning.  Tom shares that his number one focus is getting our Knights (and their parents) across the four crosswalks at that busy corner and into school and back home safely.  He says although it takes his full attention, he is rewarded by the smiles and good mornings that he hears from our little ones as he greets each one by their names.

As you can see, Tom is all about the heart and his goal is to spread happiness and joy to everyone he encounters!  In addition to being our crossing guard, Tom has also become extremely invested in our school.  We always have a family that honors him at our annual Veteran’s Day Assembly.  In addition, Tom attends our 5th grade promotions when possible to say good bye and celebrate our Knights that are making their journey into middle school.  He has been so much so apart of our Rossmoor Family that we also decided to sort Tom into one of our four houses!  He is a proud member of Percival House!

We want to thank you, Tom, for being committed to our Knights and our families at Rossmoor Elementary.  When asking Tom why he does what he does he shares, “I feel a great sense of worth when the parents tell me how thankful they are that I am here each day.  I take the job and the responsibility placed in me by the school and parents very seriously. Although I am disappointed to lose my 5th graders each June, but the new school year brings new faces and names to learn. I love my job and am so happy to be part of Rossmoor!"

Last week in STEM:

It was Slime Central in STEM Lab! Check out the slimy matter that our 2nd grade and 5th grade Knights made in STEM Lab.  Our Knights have been learning about properties of matter and how physical and chemical changes can occur when different types of matter are combined.  Talk about A LOT of slimy fun!

Sydney is mom to Logan (3rd grade) and future Knight, Jaxon.

Sydney has volunteered in so many different roles and capacities during her time at Rossmoor Elementary. She always jumps in to help with whatever job/task that is at hand. She has been a Room Parent, helped with Spirit Wear, Ice Cream Social and Family Knights, coordinated our amazing Carnival, and is always willing to get the job done whenever there is a need. She currently fulfills the huge role on our PTA Executive Board as Vice President. The Vice President works closely with our PTA President to coordinate all PTA meetings and events, informs the board of new and updated PTA materials, information and resources, and helps facilitate a smooth transition between incoming and outgoing officers. Her thoroughness, dedication, and positivity make her the perfect person for this role!

Sydney, we wouldn’t be the PTA without you, thank you for always being willing to step in and for graciously giving your time! We are so grateful to have you and your family as part of the Rossmoor Community! Thank you for all that you do.
